ABORIGINAL people with traditional connections to the seas around Groote Eylandt are invited to attend information meetings next week.
The ALC and the Northern Land Council (NLC) will be holding the meetings to discuss the preparation of a native title claim over the seas around Groote Eylandt.
The meetings will discuss what native title in the sea means for Traditional Owners, what area of sea country the claim will cover, which Aboriginal groups have native title rights and interests in the area and how research is being done.
The meetings will be on Monday, April 23 from 10am-1pm at Angurugu School, on Tuesday, from 1pm-4pm at Umbakumba School, on Wednesday from 10am-1pm at Bickerton Cultural Centre in Milyakburra and on Thursday from 10am-1pm at Numbulwar Training Centre
