Kaylisha and Chinelle set sights on Canada

TWO young Indigenous girls will travel to Canada for the International Association of Women in Policing (IAWP) conference in August.

Kaylisha Mamarika and Chinelle Herbert were chosen for the 2018 Groote Eylandt Female Indigenous Youth Leadership Initiative by Northern Territory Police, with the aim to improve role modelling of females in community, enhance their leadership abilities and improve behaviour and school attendance.

NT Police senior constable Deb Blackwell said the girls were in a phase of their lives where their decisions could see them either have adverse contact with police or make the right choices.
